MCPS had a chili cook-off last week. Everyone had an opportunity to try several different chilis brought in by our staff. The overall winner of the taste testing was......... Mr. Thompson!!!
The winner of our Halloween themed Charcuterie Board, based on community votes, was board #3, made by our 2nd grade team (Mrs. Schmidgall, Mrs. Thompson, Ms. Charlton, and Miss Waddell)!!
Congratulations to our winners!!!

Trunk or Treat will be held Tuesday, October 31 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Veteran's Park.

November Menus

Raiders - It's time for Parent/Teacher Conferences!

Reminder - Tomorrow is a 1/2 day for students and NO Preschool classes!
Buildings will dismiss as follows: PS - 11:40 MS - 11:20 HS - 11:30

These students in Mrs. Gough's and Mrs. Herrin's class completed their at-home reading challenge. In order to earn participation in the pizza party they needed to read at home at least 10 different days. For every time they read, they would get a red sticker symbolizing a pepperoni. Once they earned 10 pepperonis, their slice of pizza went in the pizza box. Some students earned, and almost earned, 2 pizza slices! Way to read, kiddos!!!

Don't have time to shop? We have elves that will do the shopping for you. All you have to do is drop off your cash or check (made payable to Midwest Central with "Snow Buddies" in the memo line) donation to any of the school offices.
You can drop off monetary donations now!! Dates for “adopting” a Raider family to shop for, dropping off presents for your "adopted" Raider family, and gently used present donation drop off will be released soon… so stay tuned!

Join us on Tuesday, October 31, for the Village of Manito’s Trunk-or-Treat co-sponsored by the Midwest Central High School Interact Club and National Honor Society!
Community members and businesses are invited to join in the fun! Choose a costume of your choice, decorate the trunk of your vehicle, line up along Harrison Street from 4:30-4:45 PM and hand out store-bought, wrapped candy to hundreds of goblins, ghouls, superheroes, princesses, and more from 5:00 – 7:00 PM!
We hope to see you there!

Recently the Snow Buddy program received a generous $1,000 donation from Randall Hendrickson, Manito Masonic Lodge #476. We can’t thank the Masonic Lodge enough for this wonderful act of kindness. It will help purchase gifts for Midwest Central students at Christmas.

MCPS Preschool staff are enjoying Professional Development at the Early Childhood Sharing a Vision Conference today!

Happy Columbus Day!

Last Friday, all four first grade classes walked down to The Lodge to hear the residents talk about our community long ago. The students got to learn about one room schoolhouses, riding horses to school, and what houses used to look like! When they were finished, they were able to ask questions and give cards to the residents.

Reminder - Monday, 10/9/23 we have no school in observance of Columbus Day! Enjoy a 3 day weekend, Raiders!!

There is no school on Thursday and Friday (10/5 and 10/6) for PRESCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY.

Happy National Custodian Appreciation Day!

These are our first shooting stars of the year!! They are great Raider role models!

Raider families!!! We held our parent information meeting for children joining the wrestling club. There were a lot of families that were able to attend, and we are excited for the wrestling season!
If you missed the meeting and still want to join, please reach out before next Friday!
There are extra packets available for those still interested. If you are unsure, you can try it out and see how it goes! If your child joins the Midwest Central Youth Wrestling Club, you are not required to sign up for tournaments. Your child can participate in practices without signing up for tournaments.

Yesterday Sterling Burks came and read a story to Ms. Nieuwkoop's class. It was the story Oh the Thinks You Can Think by Dr. Seuss.
He was able to come and read because he used his Raider tickets to buy a coupon to read to a class! GREAT JOB, Sterling!

We have a couple menu changes for the Primary School this week for lunch.
Thursday:

Fries instead of Peas
Friday:
