This year we started a new reading incentive at the Middle School and High School: 100 Book Before Graduation! The goal: for students to read 100 books between 6th -12th grades. To encourage students who don't have 7 years to complete the challenge, we lowered the goal for students above 6th grade. This year's seniors have a goal of 10 books by the end of April.
While we have no doubt she's read 100 books since 6th grade, Hailey Green is our first student to reach the 100 Books Before Graduation goal! Hailey (and any other seniors who meet their goal by the end of April) will be recognized at Senior Night in May.
The Freshman Raiders put on a display of toughness in a win against Riverton tonight.
Midwest Central pulled away for a final score 55–43 after a strong second half, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to take control.
The Raiders were led by J. Hunter with 15 points, knocking down four three-pointers, while N. Coffey added 14 points and C. Watts chipped in 12 to give Midwest Central three players in double figures.
After a tight first half, the Raiders outscored Riverton 31–22 over the final two quarters, forced turnovers, and hit timely shots to secure the victory.

The "traveling duck" has landed at Midwest Central. Midwest Central beat IC last night to take possession of it. It will be roosting at Midwest Central until next basketball season when we play Havana.

In a typical Mason County battle on the hardwood, the Raiders came out of top 45-38 on Tuesday night over Illini Central in Manito.
The Cougars raced out to a 12-3 lead after 1 quarter. But the Raiders roared back to take a 22-16 lead at the half. Using stifling defense throughout by the Proehl boys on the IC sharpshooter, the Raiders limited him to only 13 points on the game.
Once again, Jaxson Robinson came off the bench like his pants were on fire to drop some corner 3s and lead the team with 13 points on the night. Malachi Carroll chipped in 9 points, Joe Proehl had 8, and Josh Dawe went 4-4 on free throws down the stretch as the Raiders sealed the deal in front of a raucous crowd of cheering Raider fans.
With the win, the Raiders moved to 4-4 on the season and sit atop the Tomahawk Conference with a record of 2-0. The Raiders also captured the traveling Duck trophy as the current Kings of Mason County Basketball!
Raiders hosted Pekin Tuesday night. With a nail biter of a meet, the Dragons just squeezed away scoring 36 to the Raiders 33.
Kaci Eller, Bocephus Schnoor and Kaiden Hill helped the team with wins tonight.
Liam Zimmerman put up a match with a win by pin.
John Payne battled his way to earn a victory by pin!
Kamden Merrill added another win by pin to his undefeated season.
Carson Johnson added his first ever wrestling win with a pin! He followed with another victory by a pin!
The Raiders are now 2-3 for the season. This weekend they travel to Jacksonville for a tournament.
“The crowd was electric tonight!! Thank you to all who came out to support us!” - Coach Augi
