These two have been such an important part of our band program. From bringing energy to pep band performances to representing our Raiders with pride, they have shown commitment, leadership, and heart all year long. Their presence has made a huge difference, and they have set a great example for the younger students coming up behind them.

Great things are happening in our classrooms as Raider students continue to learn through hands-on experiences, labs, and real-world problem solving!
In Chemistry, students are strengthening their understanding of chemical equations, phase changes, and the Law of Conservation of Mass through lab investigations. They are now applying those concepts to balancing equations as they prepare to begin their Stoichiometry unit.
Our Environmental Science students are digging into the study of soil! They are analyzing soil components and properties and connecting them to real environmental processes such as percolation, infiltration, porosity, erodibility, and leaching. Students have also been observing different types of water erosion, including splash, rill, sheet, and gully erosion.
In Physics, students are investigating simple harmonic motion using pendulum and spring-mass systems. By utilizing Vernier technology, they are collecting and analyzing real data to better understand motion and periodic behavior.
Meanwhile, in Mr. Servis’ Physical Science class, students wrapped up their unit on waves and sound by constructing cup-and-string telephone systems. Through experimentation, they tested how vibrations travel through materials and even worked to successfully make a “phone call” around corners!
We are proud of the curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking our Raiders demonstrate every day. Hands-on learning continues to bring science to life at MCHS!

Kamden plans to attend Western Illinois University, where he will major in History and minor in Literature. He also plans to participate in ROTC and commission as an Army officer after graduation.
Throughout his school years, Kamden has been an active leader and performer — involved in Student Council, FFA, Rooted Youth Group, NTA Theater, all-school plays, community plays, and band.
Kamden is the kind of person who brings energy and laughter wherever he goes — always ready to hype up the crowd and make everyone smile. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things in store for him at WIU and beyond!

Students virtually explored different majors across the three campuses of Illinois Central College before spending the afternoon with the Theater Department. They had the opportunity to engage with the department chair and current students, learning firsthand about the arts at ICC and how involved students can be on campus.
We discussed tuition waivers available to students who participate in shows, choir, and band, as well as how to earn an associate degree and successfully transfer to a four-year university. Our students jumped right in with group acting activities, learning more about themselves and each other through hands-on experiences.
The day ended with a live performance of Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare. The ICC student performers were phenomenal and took time after the show to connect with our students, answer questions, and share their college journeys.
We have several students who are already super excited to begin their college careers at ICC.
