Students in Ms. Brodbeck's Spanish 2, 3, and 4 classes were able to try cubano sandwiches. Cubanos have roast pork, ham, cheese, mustard, and lots of pickles! Despite their name, cubanos are more of a Miami food influenced by Cubans than a Cuban food, although Cubans enjoy them too!

At the Rushville Invitational today, the runner Raiders continued their fast pace this season. Dakota Piro ran a new personal best time of 19:57.99 to place 39th overall. This is a 5 minute and 3 second improvement over last years time at this meet. CJ Ballard also ran a great time of 20:54.83 and placed 43rd overall. CJ’s time was almost 2 min and 40 seconds faster than last season. The Raiders next competition will be Saturday at the Porta Invitational.

The Lady Raiders took down Princeville in a 2 set thriller on Monday 9/8 winning 25-21 and 25-22. The Lady Raiders were led in kills by Junior Kayleigh Herrman with 5, Junior Addison Friedrich tallied 7 digs and Senior Lexi Wood finished with 5 digs. The Lady Raiders take on a conference match @ Athens tonight.

The Golfing Raiders hosted a quadrangular match at home tonight with Havana, Tremont, and Brimfield. They played well but dropped 2 and won 1 with Jackson Smith posting his best round of the year. Zach Highland led the raiders at 2 over par. The full JV Raiders made their season debut and played well but lost to Tremont.

The MCHS Cross Country team has gotten off to a hot start this season. With two meets now under their belts, the boys are now two for two on seasons bests. On Friday at the IVC invitational, Junior Dakota Piro placed 41st with a time of 21:05. CJ Ballard, a senior, was right behind him in 42nd place with a time of 21:09. Both had over a minute and a half personal bests from last year’s time on the same course.   On Tuesday, Sept 2nd at the Havana Invite, Dakota put on a strong last mile to place 8th overall in a time of 20:57…a new personal record. Finishing in 11th place was CJ Ballard with a time of 21:28. CJ’s time was also about a minute faster than last year’s time. The Raiders look to keep up their fast times this Thursday at Home versus Mt.Pulaski, Illini Bluffs, and Peoria Christian.

The Raiders golf team hosted a triangular with 2 conference foes today at Sunset Hills. The Raiders made it 5 wins on a row by defeating Greenview and Mt. Pulaski. Zach Highland and Dalton Johnson shot 2 over par to lead the team. Also, thanks to everyone who supported the Booster Club at the lemonade stand this weekend!
