The Lady Raiders Track team continued their indoor season last night at Illinois Wesleyan University. All of our athletes had excellent showings at a very competitive meet.
Both Katie Parkin and Mackenzie Doty started off the action strong in field events. Katie tying her personal best in the high jump and Mackenzie with strong improvements in the shot put.
In the 60-meter hurdles Kallie Trainer and Kendall Gordon both took almost a full second of their previous season best times! Out of 56 runners in the 60-meter dash both Julia Rasmussen and Nevaeh Cunningham finished in the top 25 and Nevaeh for the second meet in a row qualified for finals.
We were able to get two teams entered in the 4x200 meter relay, and both teams ran exceptionally well. The first team of Kendall Gordon, Lilly Illyes, Mackenzie Doty, and Sophia Huff made their debut last night and ran a very competitive time. The second team of Julia Rasmussen, Katie Parkin, Emma Markle, and Nevaeh Cunningham took six seconds of their previous season best time and broke the 2-minute mark.

Prom 2026 is on its way, and the theme reveal is coming soon…but not quite yet. 😉 Before we tell you, we have a few clues. Think you can figure it out? 👀

Midwest Central High School Partners with Manito-Forest City Rotary Club
Thirty high school students, four club advisors, and eight clubs/organizations work together to make a difference for their community!
On Saturday, March 7th, 30 students volunteered their time to help the Manito-Forest City Rotary Club at the annual consignment sale in Forest City! Students volunteered to put up fliers before the sale, helped set up and tear down, worked a few hours at the sale and some even worked the whole day! Students welcomed people, gave out buyer numbers, ran sheets from the auctioneer trucks, were cashiers, entered data into the computers, helped in the concessions area, sorted tickets and assisted auctioneers holding up items!
It Was A GREAT day to be a Raider and a complete “Raider Nation” effort!!!

School Cancellation Reminder – Wednesday 3/11
Due to a power outage at the Middle School, Midwest Central schools are closed today. An automated call was sent earlier this morning, but we wanted to share this as a reminder for our families.
Because of today’s cancellation, the last day of school will now be Friday, May 29 (pending no additional emergency days needed).
We hope everyone in Raider Nation is safe and that your families experienced minimal to no damage from last night’s storms. Please take care, and thank you for your understanding.

Mrs. Harbourn took 40 students to the Illinois Regional College Fair at Bradley University, where they had the chance to explore opportunities from 80+ colleges and universities.
One student even got to meet the admissions representative from Drake University in person after previously connecting by name — always fun to put a face to the name! We also ran into a familiar face, Midwest Central graduate Carly, which made the day even more special.
Our students asked great questions, explored different programs of study, and learned more about the many paths available after high school. It was a fantastic day of learning, connections, and future planning.
It was truly a great day to be a Raider!

Senior Spotlight – Jack Taylor
After graduation, Jack plans to attend Illinois Central College to complete a second course in GMAW welding, continuing to build his knowledge and hands-on experience in the field.
Once he completes that course, Jack plans to apply for and attend the Steamfitters Local 353 Apprenticeship Program for Pipefitting.
Jack’s dedication to mastering his craft and furthering his technical skills speaks volumes about his strong work ethic and determination. We are proud of the path he is pursuing and can’t wait to see him succeed in the skilled trades!

The Raiders defeated Flanagan-Cornell 52-46 on Thursday night at the 73rd annual Hartem Fresh Soph Tournament. The Raiders defense really showed up when it mattered as they held the Falcons to only 5 points in the 4th quarter. On offense, Cade Brotherton knocked down 5 3s on the way to a season high of 16 points to lead the Raiders, but he also had lots of help. Joe Proehl (9 points, 5 assists), Evan Schmidt (8 points, 9 rebounds), Blake Molitor (8 points, 8 rebounds) and Max Dierker (8 points) all were key contributors. The Raiders are now 17-6 on the season and will play in the Championship game against Edinburg in Hartsburg on Saturday at 12:30.
