Student Council sponsored a Rock, Paper, Scissors battle today at MCHS. At the end of the day we had a play off between those who had the most beads. In the end Cally beat Mr. Murphy and chose the Roasted gift card as her prize.

Lady Raiders put up a win last night, taking victory at home against the New Berlin Pretzels with a final score of 6-2. Lexi Wood earned the win for the Raiders, pitching 7 innings in the circle with Emma Junkin staying strong behind the plate. Junkin was clutch at the plate with 2 RBIs, alongside Grace Meeks and Mia Warner collecting an RBI each. Lady Raiders defense didn't commit a single error throughout the game, and Ava Warner made the most plays with eight. Meeks had a team high of 3 hits, and Addison Friedrich had a pivotal throw out at home from centerfield. It was a team effort. Great job Raiders, and we look forward to an away game against Williamsville on Thursday!

We are #MCRaiderNationProud! Menard Electric grants one scholarship applicant an all expense paid pass on the Youth to Washington Tour.... and this Raider right here is the lucky recipient! The tour will be June 16-23, 2025. On the Youth to Washington Tour more than 60 students from Illinois travel together to spend a week in Washington, D.C. and meet Illinois Congressmen, Senators and their staffs, tour historical sites, receive information on career paths, learn about co-ops, make lifelong friends, and meet students from across the U.S. It is truly a remarkable trip sponsored for more than 50 years by U.S. electric and telephone co-ops. Dear MCHS Students and Parents, I hope this message finds you well. As we begin planning student schedules for the upcoming school year, I encourage you to take a few moments to review the information below and engage in thoughtful conversations with your student about their academic choices. Over the past several years, MCHS has made a concerted effort to expand elective course offerings. Thanks to the continued support of our Board of Education, we have been able to provide the staffing necessary to offer a wide variety of opportunities—more than 30 elective courses in total. Many of these courses are designed to equip students with practical, real-world skills. Additionally, we are proud to offer over 10 Early College courses for juniors and seniors through our partnership with Illinois Central College (ICC). To assist in the decision-making process, our teachers have created the attached document, which offers insight into the content and benefits of each elective. We strongly encourage you to review this document together to help identify the courses that will be most meaningful and beneficial for your student. Following this email, Mrs. Harbourn will send a course request form to all families. Please ensure this form is completed and submitted as soon as possible to secure placement in your preferred elective courses. Please note that core classes—including English, Math, Science, and Social Studies—will be scheduled automatically for all students. Thank you for your attention and support as we work together to create a valuable and enriching academic experience for our students. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Sincerely, Brad Welch Principal Midwest Central High School https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/1317/MCHS/5510721/HS_Elective_Options_2526.pdf

A group of students went to Bradley University for an afternoon with current college students. Our students participated in interactive workshops, ate in the university’s student center, and ended the day with games to interact with peers. The goal of today was College 101. Our students were able to connect with college students, professors, and ask all the questions. The event sparked some interest in post secondary goals and eased some anxieties. What a great day to be a Raider!

On a chilly afternoon Thursday, the Midwest Central boys baseball team brought their own heat to defeat Knoxville 7-2. The Raiders jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Rex Watts doubled to drive in 2 and was followed up by by a Josh Dawe single to drive in the third run of the inning. The early runs were plenty for Ryan Terrill as he dominated the Blue Bullets on the bump. The starter gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking five. Dalton Johnson came in for the 7th and collected his first save of the season. Kamden Merrill and Rex Watts were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs. Terrill also went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Raiders in hits. With the win, Coach Zach Roberts notched his first career varsity win. Congratulations! On Friday, the Raiders look to continue their winning ways at Peoria Christian beginning at 4:30.
