The Raiders hit the road for some matches.
Grant Rasmussen took control of the whole match and had a win by pin in the third period.
Remington Vonderheide wrestled up a weight class but still got the job done pinning both of his opponents.
Kamden Merrill added another pin to his season.
Mauyid BenGuzzi fought hard and had a pin as well!
We will be back at Leroy this Saturday for a big Varsity tournament.
Saturday night, the High School basketball team hosted their first Coaches vs. Cancer game. Olympia made the drive over in the cold temperatures to team up with MCHS for this event. T shirts were purchased, gondolas we devoured, and donations were taken. The team will be presenting the proceeds to a young girl in the community who is going through treatments. It was such a great night to be a Raider.
Saturday night, the High School basketball team hosted an alumni game featuring 23 former players, a former manager, and two former coaches. The white team ended up winning by one point. It was a very fun and competitive game in front of a packed house!
MCHS would like to send a post of appreciation to the Tazewell County Education for Employment Office for providing the financial backing to purchase two new Miller Multimatic Welders as well as a brand new Table Saw.
These pieces of equipment are upgrades to our existing equipment, and will provide more opportunities for students to do hands on work in both our metal and wood shops.

Mr. Hyde’s freshmen English 1 classes began their study of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet this week. While Shakespeare can be challenging, students enjoy acting out scenes from the play to gain better understanding. Here, students are acting out the marketplace brawl from Act 1, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet. After biting his thumb, Sampson (Jackson Smith) and Gregory (Hailey Thomas) duel with Abram (Houston Butler) as Benvolio (Wolfgang Waibel) tries to restore the peace.

Midwest Central Community (past, present, and future) - Tonight's scheduled basketball games are still being played. The alumni game will tip off at 5:00. There will be alumni from the classes of 1996-2022 along with Coach Skipp Reining and Coach Kevin Burks. At 6:00 the JV will take on Olympia followed by Varsity in the first annual Coaches vs. Cancer game. There will be gondolas for sale starting at 5:00, a 50\50 raffle, and the players are asking for pledges. All proceeds will be going to a young girl in the community who’s currently battling cancer. It’s sure to be a great night with many ways to get involved. Can’t make it to the game? Swing by and grab dinner starting at 5:00 or reach out to a player and make a pledge or flat donation.

Mrs. Harbourn took 29 MCHS students to the Tazewell Teen Conference at Illinois Central College. This conference is sponsored by the Tazewell County Health Department, Tazewell County Youth Board, Tazewell County Schools, Tazewell Teen Initiative, AAA Chicago, and The Community Foundation of Central Illinois. Over 200 students from 20 surrounding schools attended this conference. Our students were able to attend two professional workshops (according to their interest) and connect with other students in the area. After their workshops and lunch, we were excited to listen to the keynote speaker, Jim Love, talk about the next level of student leadership while being authentically yourself. Jim shared personal stories with high energy, and motivated our students to be authentic, confident, and servant leaders. It was a great day for our Raiders!!

Taylor Baughman, a senior at Midwest Central High School, has been selected by the faculty and staff as the Student of the Month in CARY (Careers for America's Rural Youth). Taylor is the daughter of Tisha Baughman of Manito and AJ and Kellsie Baughman of Canton.
During high school, Taylor has been involved in Science Club and CARY. She has also worked at Manito Subway for three years.
After graduating, Taylor plans to attend ICC for two years to obtain her RN. She will then transfer to OSF to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Eventually Taylor would like to become a travel nurse.
