Mrs. DeSutter's Physics class ended their unit on projectile motion with a lab practical called "Mouse Trap/ Marshmallow Projectiles." Students modified a mouse trap with limited resources (straws, popsicle sticks, tape, etc) to project a marshmallow. Josh won for furthest distance - 6.1 meters.



MCHS Spanish Club members helped organize Snow Buddies items and got to go to La Fiesta for dinner afterward.

Our Raiders Wrestling squad traveled to Beardstown last night for a long night of competition!
Rasmussen (126) - Started the night with his 1st career pin vs ISVI.
Payne (132) - Had his 1st career pin against Pittsfield followed by a win by points against Macomb.
Stark (138) - Had a first career win against his opponent from Beardstown going through all three periods ending with a score of 12-10!
Vonderheide (150) - Pinned his opponent from Pittsfield in the first period. He then pinned his opponent from Beardstown in 20 seconds!
Merrill (190) - Pinned his opponent from ISVI in the first period.
Mucciante (190) - Pinned his opponent from Beardstown in the second period making it his first win and pin this year!
Gilmore (HWT) - Added another pin to his collection vs Macomb in the first period.
Raiders will travel to Jacksonville this Saturday for a tournament!

Midwest Central High School is pleased to announce that four students from our graduating class of 2024 have been designated as Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), the state’s college access and financial aid agency, presents this important recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois high school students annually. This year, nearly 16,700 honorees join the other outstanding students who have been honored since the designation was first introduced in 1958. We are proud of our students that have achieved this recognition. They are Courtney Maslana, Lilly McKimson, Collin Parkin, and Karsyn Skaggs.

Makayla Morris, a senior at Midwest Central High School, has been selected by the faculty and staff as the Student of the Month in Social Studies. Makayla is the daughter of Jarold Morris of Topeka.
During high, school Makayla spent her 4 years playing basketball.
After graduating, Makayla plans to attend ICC for 2 years to obtain her RN. She then plans to continue her schooling at OSF to get her Bachelors of Science in Nursing to work in a NICU setting.
Makayla would like to personally thank the Midwest Central School District staff for this opportunity.

On Friday, Karsyn Skaggs signed her letter of intent to continue her education and athletics at Spoon River College. The Snappers are lucky to get the caliber of student athlete that Karsyn possesses. The Raider Nation wishes Karsyn good luck in her future.

Midwest Central schools will be having their Winter Concert on Sunday, December 10th at 6:00. The HS Band, HS Choir, MS Band, MS Choir, and 5th Grade Band will be performing. The doors will open at 5:45.
