Mrs. DeSutter's Physics students are starting a new unit on inertia and Newton's laws. Today they used air hockey pucks to start their knowledge of inertia and connect it all with velocity and acceleration from the last unit! Physics is FUN!

Students - National Honor Society is hosting a SOCK DRIVE to benefit SNOW BUDDIES from Monday, November 27, through Friday, December 1! Purchase quality new socks and donate them to earn homecoming points for your class. The class that collects the most socks will also win the traveling Sock Monkey Trophy!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting lunch and a movie this Saturday in the High School library from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. All students and staff are invited to join us for tacos and watching “I Can Only Imagine”. Meat and taco shells will be provided. Sign-up in the library to bring a side to share. Book Club will be reading Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan for December. Copies are available in the library for any interested students.
Last Saturday 6 music students were chosen to participate in the ILMEA District 4 Festival. The students had to submit an audition earlier in the year and were chosen from 110 area schools. This is a huge honor and we are very proud! Congratulations!

Congratulations to Courtney and Carly for being accepted into the USDA NCAUR Ag Lab Student Research Day at the Peoria Laboratory! Any Central Illinois Junior and/or Senior can apply to get into this event. Our two students went to the government facility today for a tour and were able to learn and perform experiments that the scientists are currently doing right now! It is a great hands-on experience! Thank you to the USDA Ag Lab for their time and efforts to provide amazing and unique opportunities for students!

The MCHS National Honor Society is hosting the annual Holiday Gift Card Raffle fundraiser.
Tickets can be purchased from NHS members or by emailing Mrs. Kerley at kerley@midwestcentral.org. Tickets will also be for sale at Meet the Raiders on Friday, November 10.
The winning tickets will be drawn on Tuesday, November 21, at 12 noon...just in time for Black Friday shopping! Thank you in advance for your support!
Meet the Raiders will be held on 11/10/23 in the HS gym. The pep band will start playing at 5:30. The introduction of the participants in pep band, cheerleading, wrestling, girls basketball, and boys basketball will begin at 6:00.

On November 3rd, Mrs. Harbourn was able to take 10 students to the ICC Health Careers Visit Day. They received a lot of information on different paths in the medical field! They were able to interact with ICC faculty and students and get more insight on the steps to enroll in specific programs! It was a wonderful day! 🖤
Karsyn Skaggs, a senior at Midwest Central High School, has been selected by the faculty and staff as the Student of the Month in Science. Karsyn is the daughter of Sara and Brent Skaggs of Manito.
Throughout high school, Karsyn has been involved in Spanish Club, FCCLA, Student Council, History League, National Honor Society, Basketball, and Softball. She is currently the National Honor Society President.
After graduating, Karsyn plans to attend Spoon River College to play softball and get her Associates Degree. She will then transfer to a four year to major in Political Science with the hopes of becoming a lawyer.
Karsyn would like to personally thank the Midwest Central School District staff for this opportunity.
