Several of our Raiders had the opportunity to visit Methodist College of Nursing in Peoria. After we arrived at the private college, we were given a presentation of their history, their undergraduate and graduate programs, and different job programming to support their academic goals. Our students were able to participate in several simulation labs which included the following: providing patient care at the bedside, assisting a patient that was experiencing a seizure, and lastly, observed a simulated childbirth. The students engaged in several hands on activities: injections with silicone training pads, taking blood pressure, finding 20 errors in a hospital room setting, and using a stethoscope. We were impressed with the Methodist College facility and all that they had to offer current and future students. The admissions representative finished our trip with a tour of their student housing. It was a great day to be a Raider!

The Spanish 4 class had their Día de Muertos fiesta last Friday, and their experience shows! Ayden created a charcuterie board in the image of renowned artist, Frida Kahlo. Keaton made homemade horchata that was a hit even with people who’ve never tried it before. Brigit’s pan de muerto (bread of the dead) was as delicious as it was beautiful. And last but not least, Riley hand-decorated homemade cookies with a Día de Muertos theme.

Meet the Raiders 24
The Midwest Central High School Basketball team and the Coaching Staff attended the season opener for the Bradley Braves on Monday, November 4 in Peoria. The Braves came out shooting hot on a chilly and rainy night to take down Southeast Missouri State 88-60. The Raiders were hosted by the Bradley staff and enjoyed the evening together as a team prior to the start of practice next Monday. The Raiders are excited to hit the court running as they have worked hard on building strength, athleticism, and their skills throughout the offseason. Be sure to attend Meet the Raiders on November 15th to see them in action!
