Mrs. DeSutter's Environmental Science class is learning about invasive species and their impact on the other native species in different habitats. The students played the Invasive Species Game. Native species are different fish and can only eat their specific food by using a 1 spoon, 1 fork, 2 knives, or 2 forks. An invasive species is introduced to the habitat and can eat all food by using a binder clip. Guess which organisms went extinct and which took over the habitat?

Meet the Raiders will be held on 11/10/23 in the HS gym. The pep band will start playing at 5:30. The introduction of the participants in pep band, cheerleading, wrestling, girls basketball, and boys basketball will begin at 6:00.

In Mr. Servis’ Physical Science Class, the students are working on Drop Tests as an introduction to Newton’s Laws of Motion. The students are comparing the speed of a moving object as it falls to the distance the object needs to be released prior to hitting the target. The students are then going to compare these drop tests to how World War II bombers would drop projectiles during war.

Don't have time to shop? We have elves that will do the shopping for you. All you have to do is drop off your cash or check (made payable to Midwest Central with "Snow Buddies" in the memo line) donation to any of the school offices.
You can drop off monetary donations now!! Dates for “adopting” a Raider family to shop for, dropping off presents for your "adopted" Raider family, and gently used present donation drop off will be released soon… so stay tuned!

Join us on Tuesday, October 31, for the Village of Manito’s Trunk-or-Treat co-sponsored by the Midwest Central High School Interact Club and National Honor Society!
Community members and businesses are invited to join in the fun! Choose a costume of your choice, decorate the trunk of your vehicle, line up along Harrison Street from 4:30-4:45 PM and hand out store-bought, wrapped candy to hundreds of goblins, ghouls, superheroes, princesses, and more from 5:00 – 7:00 PM!
We hope to see you there!

Ms. Rousseau's US History 2 classes built their very own trenches for their WWI unit review game! :) In between review questions, students got to have a paper snowball fight from their trenches to earn extra points. (3rd and 8th hour pictured. 1st hour's trenches were also beautiful, just forgot to get pictures!)

Recently the Snow Buddy program received a generous $1,000 donation from Randall Hendrickson, Manito Masonic Lodge #476. We can’t thank the Masonic Lodge enough for this wonderful act of kindness. It will help purchase gifts for Midwest Central students at Christmas.

One of our school counselor’s goals is to provide more job shadowing opportunities!
We have had several students job shadow in careers they are interested in. One student was able to shadow Dr. Dunker (a former MC grad) at Central IL Chiropractic and several other students are set up to job shadow at Hopedale Medical Complex. Another student was able to job shadow Des Bortell (a former MC grad) at her barber shop in Pekin, Il.
We are so proud of our current Raiders and past graduates for continuing to invest our community!
THANK YOU to Dr. Dunker, Hopedale Medical Complex, and Des Bortell for providing these opportunities!!
