Raider Family!!! Mrs. Harbourn was able to take students to the Discover Manufacturing event at ICC on October 4th.
Prior to exploring the different certification programs at ICC, we did an extensive tour at BTD Manufacturing in Washington, IL. Our Raiders saw employees in the various departments: quality, warehouse, light and heavy welding, small and large machining, tooling, engineering, fiber laser, and press brake.
Once we arrived to ICC, we visited different ICC programs infused in manufacturing: hydraulics, CNC/Machine, Industrial Electronics/ Maintenance, Welding, Graphic Communications, and HVAC!
We are grateful for BTD and ICC for providing our Raiders the opportunity to experience the manufacturing world!

The is the newest upgrade that we have done to the HS baseball field. An astroturf home plate area was installed. This project would not have been happened if it wasn't for the Midwest Central Athletic Booster Club and their continued support of our districts athletics.

A parent meeting with the winter sports coaches and AD will be October 25th at 7:00 for the sports of boys and girls basketball, cheerleading and wrestling. If you have already attended the fall meeting, you only need to attend the coaches meeting after the AD meeting.

Good afternoon Raider Families!!! Mrs. Harbourn applied for the District Rotary Grant with the guidance of fellow Rotarians, and Midwest Central High School was awarded the grant funds for the Raider Closet Project. With these funds we will be able to provide more household items, clothes, hygiene products, and other items to support our students and community. Mrs. DeSutter, long time Rotary member, and Mrs. Harbourn, current Rotary secretary, will build the connection between the school district and our local chapter. The local chapter does a lot for our community and schools, but we are excited to build the connection with the Raider Closet.
The Raider Closet will be open during parent-teacher conferences on October 26th, 2023. We will have the Raider Closet open in the cafeteria just in case families need to grab a few items. Again, the Raider Closet is going on its third year, and the success of the program is because of all the communities’ (local and afar) support.

On September 27, 2023, ten students were inducted into Midwest Central High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
They will be assisting with multiple activities within our community including, but not limited to, six Red Cross Blood Drives held in Manito, Trunk-or-Treat, Sock Drive for Snow Buddies, Popcorn Festival Fundraiser, and the Manito-Forest City Rotary Club Sale, as well as continuing their strong academic career.

In Mr. Servis’ Physical Science Classes, the students are discovering the differences between Speed, Velocity, and Acceleration as an introduction to Physics. The students used coffee can cylinder racers to determine the speed of the objects, then converted them to velocity and ultimately calculated the moving object’s acceleration. Additionally, students used creative methods to determine how to change speed, direction, and Speed & Direction of a moving object with using golf balls.
