Looking forward to a great season!!

The Spanish 4 class had their Día de Muertos fiesta last Friday, and their experience shows! Ayden created a charcuterie board in the image of renowned artist, Frida Kahlo. Keaton made homemade horchata that was a hit even with people who’ve never tried it before. Brigit’s pan de muerto (bread of the dead) was as delicious as it was beautiful. And last but not least, Riley hand-decorated homemade cookies with a Día de Muertos theme.

The Midwest Central High School Basketball team and the Coaching Staff
attended the season opener for the Bradley Braves on Monday, November 4 in Peoria. The Braves came out shooting hot on a chilly and rainy night to take down Southeast Missouri State 88-60.
The Raiders were hosted by the Bradley staff and enjoyed the evening together as a team prior to the start of practice next Monday. The Raiders are excited to hit the court running as they have worked hard on building strength, athleticism, and their skills throughout the offseason. Be sure to attend Meet the Raiders on November
15th to see them in action!

Reminder - Tomorrow is a 1/2 day for students and NO Preschool classes! Buildings will dismiss as follows: PS - 11:40, MS - 11:20, HS - 11:30

Running at the IHSA Sectional Meet at Elmwood, Senior Ayden Forbis saved his best race for last. Placing 36th overall and running a time of 16:25.24, Ayden just missed making it to the State Championships next weekend. Ayden is now Midwest Central’s third fastest cross country runner of all time.

Spanish 2 students Khloe and Jenna celebrated Día de Muertos a day early with their stunning (and delicious!) fruit pizza. Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a day of honoring loved ones who have passed away.

The Midwest Central Cross Country Team competed today at the Donovan Park Regional hosted by Peoria Notre Dame. Running on a very hilly 5K (3.1 miles) course the Raiders ran against some of the best teams in the state. 4 of the top 10 ranked teams in the state were competing at this regional. Senior Ayden Forbis ran his best race of the year and placed 22nd with a time of 17:37.86. CJ Ballard ran 22:58.85 and placed 65th. Rounding out the Raider this year was Dakota Piro finishing in 71st place with a time of 24:46.81.
With Ayden’s 22nd place, he automatically qualified as the top individual (not already on an advancing Sectional team) to move onto Sectionals next week at Elmwood. Way to go Ayden!

Mrs. DeSutter's Environmental Science students are learning about native and invasive species in their Habitat Destruction Chapter. The game they played today had 4 native species that ate specific things in a specific way. The habitat was balanced until an invasive species came in and ate all the food leaving none for the native species. This led to extinction of some native species.
