The Raiders Varsity basketball team picked up their second win of the season Tuesday night, putting on a show for the crowd in their home opener with a 63-48 win over rival Havana! Josh Dawe led the way with 16 points to go along with 5 assists and a couple of big 3 pointers in the second half. Senior Owen Schmidt also had a big game for Midwest Central with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Ryan Terrill and Brenden Carton were also big on the boards for the Raiders, with Terrill grabbing 5 offensive rebounds (7 total rebounds) and Carton cleaning the defensive glass with 6 rebounds. Carton also added 10 points and Terrill 6 points in the winning effort.  The Raiders look to keep the momentum going with a big game on Friday on the road against Illini Bluffs beginning at 6 pm.

Our Raiders varsity boys basketball team lost a tough game to Princeville on Saturday night to wrap up the 2024 Peoria Heights Thanksgiving tournament. Sophomore Josh Dawe earned a spot on the All Tournament team for his play and leadership all week. Be sure to come out and help pack the gym for the home opener on Tuesday at 6:00 against Mason County rival Havana Ducks.

Yesterday the Raiders traveled to Glasford for the Illini Bluffs Invitational. 20 teams attended with over 250 wrestlers! Our wrestlers battled through 16 and 32 man brackets. Leelinn Danner earned his first career win and pin in the first round! John Payne had his first pin of the season in the 2nd round. Kamden Merrill earned a tech fall in the 3rd round. Peyton Abner added his first career wins. Pinning two opponents, the first in just 26 seconds and the next one in 31 seconds!! Richard Gilmore added his first wins of the season and adding two pins, one of them in just 42 seconds! David Andrews added two more pins to his season. Pinning the first opponent in 27 seconds. Remington Vonderheide looked like a veteran on the mat. He pinned his first opponent then won his next match by points, followed by a pin. He ended with 4th place in the finals. “It’s awesome to see how this team has improved in this tournament since last year!” - Coach Augi

The Raiders picked up their first win of the season and the first win at MC for Coach Nick Gerndt, in convincing fashion, using a big second quarter and some tough defense to defeat Knoxville 72-42. Josh Dawe has a big game with a team high 16 points. Brenden Carton added 12 points and Ryan Terrill added 10 more as the Raiders used great defense to turn the Blue Bullets over 24 times. With the win the Raiders move to 1-2 with a chance to get back to .500 tomorrow night at the Peoria Heights Thanksgiving Tournament beginning at 6:30 at Peoria Heights grade school.

Our wrestlers traveled to PORTA to start off the season last night! Remington Vonderheide started the first match of the night. The Senior captain showed this young squad how it’s done by pinning his first opponent! David Andrews followed as he pinned his first opponent securing his first Varsity win! He ended the night with two pins!! John Payne got a win for his team helping them put team points on the board. Kamden Merrill faced tough competition. He battled hard all night and secured his first pin of the season! “Over all this young team did great. 70% of our lineup had never wrestled a high school match before. Everyone fought hard and knows what they need to work on to get better! The season is still young and I’m excited to see these athletes grow in this sport.” - Coach Augi
