Mrs. DeSutter's Physics students performed their Egg Drop lab practical today! Students were given a set amount of material to build a contraption that kept their egg safe from a fall of 1.75 meters. The twist was, not only did the egg need to go unscathed, BUT they had to determine the kinetic energy and potential energy, gravitational force and velocity of their egg contraption. Their faces say it all!!

The Raiders baseball team swung some hot bats on a cold, windy day for an opening day defeat of El Paso/Gridley 17-9! Trailing 7-1 heading into the top of the 6th, the Raiders batted around TWICE for a 15 run inning! TJ Pfeiffer, Cade Muhich, and Austin Kammeyer all had multiple hits and Cade Muhich, TJ Pfeiffer, Logan Justus and Collin Parkin had multiple RBIs for the victors. Braden Johnson also had a big RBI double for the Raiders to get the 15 run rally started. Logan Justus got the opening day nod for the Raiders on the bump, whiffing 8 and allowing only one earned run in his four innings of work. Eli Woodley picked up the win and TJ Pfeiffer came in the final two innings to slam the door on the Titans! The Raiders move to 1-0 on the young season with a non-conference matchup with Eureka on Thursday.

Ms. Schleder and Mrs. Kerley took five students to the 2nd Annual Career Summit at Illinois Central College on Thursday, March 16. Students started the day with a panel of professionals based on whether they are headed "straight to work" or to "college/training/trade school" after high school. After the opening class, students attended two workshops, ate lunch, and then were able to participate in some hands-on activities such as practice interviews, the application process, and building a resume. They also met with a variety of employees from local businesses during the Career Fair. It was a great experience for our students, and we look forward to attending this every year!

The Raider Café Crew took on a new project this past week, the Snack Pack Initiative. The initiative was purposed to the Forest City-Manito Rotary Club, and they were excited to financially support the idea. We are so grateful the Rotary Club supported our vision to provide additional support to our students. Not only did we provide healthy snack packs to some of our students, our Raider Café crew was provided another opportunity to learn more job related skills. We are a part of a supportive community, and we wanted to extend our gratitude to the Forest City-Manito Rotary Club was seeing our vision and allowing it to come to life. Raider Nation!!!!
