Raider Nation!!! We have some exciting news to share following the 2024 SkillsUSA Illinois Championships Competition, April 25-27th. The SkillsUSA Illinois Championships brought together more than 2,000 outstanding career and technical education students who compete hands-on in 100 different trade, technical, and leadership fields. Five of our Raiders qualified to enter this State Competition: Brennen Alexander, Eric Chaney, John Balster, Dylan Wood, and Nick Reagan-Byrd. The welding sector has both an individual and Fab Team contest for High School and College. Brennen, Eric, and John took home GOLD MEDAL in the College Fab Team and will be representing Illinois at Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia in late June. They will be going up against the winners from the other states in a week-long event. ICC will pay for the hotel and plane tickets along with proving all needed uniforms and fees for the event. The fab team including Nick took home silver medal. Dylan competed in the individual welding contest and took home a top 10 finish. WTG Raiders!!!!!!

Help support your local High School Seniors by contributing to the “Rooting for a Raider” Scholarship. This is normally only supported by Midwest Central staff, but we would love to invite our community to join in. There are many seniors who are going to college or trade schools after graduation, and they need our support. If you would like to donate, you can stop by the high school any time with your donation. All donations are very much appreciated! Thank you to everyone for the continued support in ensuring our students have a bright future!

Two local business women spoke to the students in Mrs. Frank’s business classes. Mrs. Kerley gave her first-hand experience as an entrepreneur and small business owner during Introduction to Business. Senior Consumer Management students heard Mrs. Dierker speak on the importance of investment, and her role in commercial real estate. We are thankful to these leaders in our community for sharing their time and talents with the leaders of tomorrow!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to shed light on an often-stigmatized topic. On May 3rd, Midwest Central High School will host a very special event for students - Raider Re-Charge. The expert discussion panel will consist of the following three individuals: Brittany Richmond (Teen and Mental Health Speaker/Anxiety Expert/Author), Caleb Uselton (Rankin Middle School Teacher/Mental Health Advocate), and Angie Harbourn (MCHS School Counselor/Licensed Mental Health Professional). Jeff Hyde, MCHS English teacher, will be moderating. This event will delve into the complexities of mental health in a candid and supportive setting. Let's break down barriers and foster understanding together. Save the date.... Raider Re-Charge, let’s go!
