The Raiders boys track team opened their season today at the St Ambrose University high school boys classic in Davenport, Iowa. Coach Thompson took 5 athletes to compete and brought back 5 personal records. The jumpers had a very successful first meet. Ethan Land competed in the long jump, triple jump, and 60m hurdles, setting a personal best in all 3. Freshman Devin Greiner jumped a high school best of 5’6” and ran a strong split in the 4x400. Senior Ayden Forbis placed 7th in the 800 and ran a fast 3rd leg in the 4x4. Ayden, along with Raisean Anderson, J.J. Proehl, and Devin Greiner competed in the first 4x4 of the season. J.J. also ran the 60M and 200M, setting PR’s in both and later anchored the 4x4.
Overall, this was a great first meet against top level competition and the team will look to continue this strong start next Saturday, March 22 at the Cogdal High School Boys Indoor invite in Normal.

The ICAC recently voted on the girls that made 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Conference, and Special Mention All-Conference for girls basketball. Cally DeSutter was nominated for 1st Team All-Conference, Carly DeSutter was nominated for 2nd Team All-Conference, and Maddie Sidwell and Eliza Kerley were nominated for Special Mention All-Conference. Midwest Central is proud of these ladies for their efforts both on and off the court.

Congratulations to Sophomore basketball player Josh Dawe on being named 2nd Team Tomahawk All-Conference for the 2024-2025 season. Josh led the Raiders with an average of 12 points and 4 assists per game. Josh was one of only 2 Sophomores to make the All-Conference teams from the 8 member schools as they were predominantly senior athletes. Recently, Josh was also named the MC team MVP for his dedication, hard work, leadership and excellent play all year long. Way to go Josh!

The Raiders Fresh Soph team season ended Saturday with a tough hard fought 38-30 loss to Edinburg at the 72nd Annual Hartem Fresh Soph Tournament championship. The game was a back and forth defensive battle throughout as both teams played very active zone defenses. The Raiders led 28-26 entering the 4th quarter when the shots quit falling.
The 2nd place finish at the tourney was the 5th runner up in school history and the best finish for Midwest Central since 2013. The season was very successful as the team improved from 2-20 last season to finish 16-6 this year and 6-1 in the Tomahawk Conference. Coach Proehl was very proud of the effort on the court and all the hard work these players have put in since last fall.
Watch out for big things to come for this group in 2025-2026 as they move up to become Sophomores and Juniors!

Today is the end of the 3rd 9 weeks!

The Raiders Fresh Soph basketball team kept their strong play going, moving to 16-5 on the season with a semifinal win over top seeded Lexington 52-47 to advance to the championship of the 72nd annual Hartem tournament!
The Raiders jumped out to a 15 point lead midway through the 3rd quarter, but Lexington cut it to 2 with 1 min left. However, Ryan Terrill had a big put back bucket with 15 seconds left to seal the win and punch their ticket to the title game. Terrill finished the game with 8 points to go with his 5 rebounds. Josh Dawe also finished with 12 points and 6 assists and Brenden Carton fell just short of a double double with 10 points and 7 boards.
With the win, the Raiders look to cap off their season with a title against Edinburg. Game time is 12:45 on Saturday in Hartsburg. Be sure to come out and see the boys play one last time this season!

Raiders traveled to Normal to Fresh/Soph regionals. Tough matches for this young squad. Great job to Liam, Leelinn, Cole and Jesse for extending their season and putting in the extra hard work.
Liam Zimmerman went into overtime, scored the takedown and secured his spot to Sectionals next Sunday in Heyworth!

Empowering change through compassion and advocacy. Happy World Social Work Day!
